The mission of the laboratory is to support research and education of Computer Science undergraduates and graduates in the fields of Multimedia Technology, High-Speed Communications, Network-Based Educational Technology, and Knowledge-Based Learning Environments.


Located in the Engineering Graduate Research Center on North Carolina State University's Centennial Campus, the Multimedia Laboratory is in a research and advanced technology community where university, government, and industry partners interact to facilitate innovation, technology transfer, and reality-based education.

The lab currently has 20 PC workstations with a variety of software available on them, dependant on the classes using the lab. There are two video capture stations that allow capture from both digital and analog sources. Adobe Premiere is available for editing video. Other resources of the lab include a flat-bed scanner and access to several CD burners. There are also two I-Macs available.
