CSEET 2008 will be held at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, South Carolina. The hotel is in a central location, within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, and universities. For more information on local attractions, see the location page.

Note: These rates are exclusive of applicable sales/room tax, currently twelve point five (12.5) percent in 2007. The above special rates will apply at least three (3) days prior to and three (3) days after the conference dates based on availability of traditional rooms to accommodate those who wish to extend their visits. Should any discounted weekend rates be offered the weekend prior to the Meeting or immediately following the conference, the attendees will be eligible for these rates on Friday and Saturday.

Room Accomodations

All guestrooms offer high-speed internet access (with a fee), phones with data port access, coffee makers, hairdryers, iron and ironing board, and complimentary daily newspaper. The hotel also offers complimentary 1-800 calls from attendee guest rooms, room service, a restaurant, a coffee shop, and complimentary use of the on-site fitness center.

Internet Access: There is a fee for high-speed internet access from the rooms, however there is complimentary internet access from the coffee shop at the lobby level of the hotel. Some local restaurants also offer complimentary internet access.

Booking Reservations

All reservations can be made by telephone (877-756-2121), emailing, or online (see instructions below). Be sure to mention CSEET in your reservation. The reservation cut-off date will be 23 March 2008 at 5:00 p.m EDT. Reservations received after this date will be accepted by the hotel on a space available basis at the conference rates.

Enter arrival and departure dates and click “Check Availability”
On top of next screen click “Group Block”
Scroll down, reconfirm dates, enter group code "CSEE&T" and click “next”
The room types and rates will display for the group. Click “continue” to confirm reservation
NOTE: Group code may not be accepted if reservation contains nights outside the designated group dates. We reccommend calling 1-877-756-2121 to confirm your reservation and rates.

Guaranteed reservations: The hotel will require a deposit in advance from individual guests to guarantee a particular reservation. To guarantee an individual reservation, a guest must either

send a check or money order covering the first night's room rate plus applicable sales tax, or
send a signed letter authorizing the hotel to charge the room deposit and applicable sales tax to the guest's major credit card and include card number and expiration date, or
provide the guest's credit card by telephone

Cancellation Policy: Should guests cancel a reservation; deposits will be refunded by the hotel if notice is received at least 72 hours prior to arrival date.
Early checkout: In the event that an attendee who has reserved a room within the Conference room block checks out prior to the reserved check-out date after he/she has confirmed the departure date upon arrival at the front desk, the hotel will charge an early departure fee of fifty (50) percent of the attendee’s room rate for one night. The hotel agrees that attendees departing early due to an emergency will have the early departure fee waived. Attendees should make every effort to inform the hotel in advance of any changes to their planned length of stay. The hotel's check-in time is 4:00 p.m. The hotel’s check-out time is 12:00 p.m. Guests are permitted to check in earlier or check out later subject to room availability.

Getting to Charleston

Air Travel

Charleston International Airport is located 12 miles from historic downtown Charleston and near the intersection of I-26 and I-526. The approximate airport taxi fare to the Francis Marion Hotel is $26.

AirTran is a low-cost carrier that will be offering flights in and out of Charleston as of May 2007.

Car Rental

You will not need a car unless you are planning some additional sightseeing. Self-parking is available at a nearby garage and valet parking is also available. Since garage parking is fairly expensive, we recommend against renting a car if you will be spending your time primarily in downtown Charleston.
